Throttle body gasket?

Hello, So Theres a gasket on the TB where 3 hoses join in that is showing some fluid seeping through. The hoses are all corroded so im thinking so is the gasket.

The cover seems to be held on by 2 allen screws.

I was wondering is this a common issue?

Also what is the gasket called so I can replace it ?

Yeah, they leak, but the hoses/clamps get old and do too. Here's a link to one of them, not sure if you have an E or I.

Ok cool, I have an IS with a high idle problem im trying to solve im thinking that the gasket/hoses my be whats wrong.

Do you know by any chance if the hoses are easy to access and replace because they look like they go deep down there. It got dark out so I wasn't able to see forsure where they go.

Unlikely that this is the cause of a high idle. Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

The throttle body heater has nothing to do with idle problems. The first step in fixing that is to have a smoke test run on the intake.

the only one of those hoses that could have anything to do with a vacuum leak is the big one in the middle as it goes to the rocker cover, the other 2 on the side are only coolant hoses.

i recently installed a bored out M20 TB and instead of the crappy gasket i used RTV silicone, havent had any leaks since.

While we're on this subject, are there any adverse effects of bypassing the throttle body in a hot climate? I live in a place where it is very rare occurrence to get near freezing, so it seems counterproductive to be heating the throttle body when its already blazing hot.

Or you could buy a roll of FelPro rubber-cellulose gasket material and make a new gasket.

PS - a set of ball-end torx drivers and some gasket punches make this a much more enjoyable process. :)

^ Just did this. I've made about 4 gaskets since I bought the roll of gasket material. No more paying and waiting for shipping.

In addition to the punches, an Exacto knife will be your best friend.
