Can a chip cause vibrations

86 325i and I just installed an Active Autowerks chip. This may be in my head but there seems to be a slight increase in engine vibration after installation. I had a chip in my eta and loved it with no adverse effects.
Anyone have any ideas?

A chip, per se, isn't going to cause roughness unless it has an extreme tune. But it will magnify any defects in the engine management system. Such as intake leaks, valves out of adjustment, fuel system or injector problems, etc.

I plan on a valve adjustment as soon as my eccentrics come in the mail.
