    What's the cost?

What's the general/average cost of rebuilding a head? I've got a couple of old heads laying around and was curious as to how much to refurb one.

Add head and valve cover gaskets. Most of these prices are what the mechanic would pay for them, so unless you've got a hook up you will probably pay more. If you are paying someone else to do the, you should assume that these prices will be marked up and the labor wont be cheap.

    EDIT:

Some of the items listed above are probably not necessary, such as the nut and screw for the eccentric and maybe the rocker shaft plugs.

So yes all those parts plus the labor for

        compression test
        removing/installing new guides
        valve job 3/5 angle
        decking/milling the head

I reused my rockers, shafts, hardware etc. bought the new guides and the labor was around $300-$350 IIRC.

So maybe around a $G if done properly.
