    Confused by my vert

So can someone tell my why the piston in my 1992 325i vert looks like this (not my pic)

when Realoem.com and most other sources show that i should have pistons with the curve on the lower half like this

Were the pistons in later verts different or something?. I know in 1992 they switched over the the e36 chassis but the convertibles were still e30's.

You can't trust the drawings in realoem.com (or anywhere else) for an accurate depiction of parts. They are meant to be representative.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

So is there any difference in the two types of pistons? I cant seem to find any information on the "flat" type that are in my car.

Yeah, you've run in to the skirted vs. non skirted piston thing.

Late pistons have skirts, early pistons don't. Don't even bother thinking about it anymore.

At least yours are all the same. When I opened up my motor, I found a piston that wasn't skirted mixed in with 5 that were.

I freaked out at first, but then after a trip to the machine shop to have them balanced, I found out they were already balanced. Life goes on.
