    overheating issue

    still havent figured this out:

when I stop at a traffic light the cars temp gauge will slowly creep up into the red. When I start moving again it will go back down to just above normal temp. Id say 5.5 out of 8. 8 being pinned to the top. The car ran fine.

I tried to jump my girlfriends car about a month ago. I wasnt paying attention and it overheated for about 1 minute at idle. Car was just pissing coolant out from the bottom in a thin steady stream. I looked under the hood and no hoses or anything seemed to be broken. Im guessing the overflow tank boiled over.

Any ideas as to what is causing the overheating when stopped? Im thinking fan clutch but im not sure. Kinda tight on cash so a shop isnt a great option for me!

Sounds like a classic fan clutch. No air moving a idle. Also check the belt and coolant level.
