#5 cylinder eating spark plugs, rebuild time?

After 3 weeks this is what my #5 plug looks like. Its a continuous problem, the rest of the plugs look OK-ish. Also getting fuel in the crankcase. Time for a rebuild? Lol

What are the compression (dry & wet) and leak down numbers? If they don't show a marked deviation for cylinder 5, pull the injectors and have them cleaned and flow tested, replace the ignition wires, distributor cap & rotor, and adjust the valves.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I don't remember the exact numbers, but there was a definite drop in cylinder 5 from the others when I did my compression test (dry). Haven't done a leak down test but the car has new ignition system (cap, rotor, wires, plugs (lol)). Oh yeah it burns oil like a son of a bitch (2 qts a week). I've known the engine was in poor shape for a while now, I made this post more as a starting point for my rebuild project.

The plug is actually gapped correctly, its just got so much build up that it has bridged the gap (so to speak lol).

Damn. I'm having the same problem. 92 Alpine weiss MT2 Vert App. Pak dd. K&N, Mobil 1Cylinder 5 plug fouls within 2 weeks the same as in your photo. Other plugs are new (2 months) and looking great. History: Just had a top end rebuild after losing my belt. New pump, tensioner, hoses, belts, plugs, gaskets, o-rings. Car idles rough between 500-550. Using NGK-ZGR5a plugs. Runs like a bat out of hell over 1000 rpm. Idles rough today (500-550), great tomorrow (700-750). Intermittent surge. gas mpg dropped from 23.9 before rebuild to 18.9 after. Valves adjusted to 7/10, hot/cold. 89 octane same as before rebuild. Wires, cap and rotor inspected and have no pits, cleaned. 148k. No coolant loss. no oil usage. Smoke tested, found leaks and sealed. Here's something weird. Even on a full tank my tank range shows 21 miles. I found out recently that the person who did the top end rebuild, DID NOT do a comp test after rebuild. He was paid in full before he told me. Needless to say I was PO'd. Stomp test 1222. Icv works, new o2 sensor 3 months ago. Any ideas????????..................................

Jim, should I have expected a comp/ leak test after top rebuild. The rebuild was done 2.5 months ago. Before that i had some idle surge, but not to this extent. Pre build surge was from oil tube down to block. I could see the leak from top to bottom on the spring, but I was not losing a lot of oil and the fix was not worth it at that time. Still got 23.9 mpg. What is the "accceptable" range of comp wet/dry and leak down?
