    32mm wrench problem

In trying to remove the fan for the timing belt change, I bought a 32mm Gearwrench brand wrench from Amazon. However, the end of the wrench must be to wide because I cannot get the wrench to meet the bolt. Any suggestions? From the top, it hits the metal connecting thing connected to two rubber hoses.

I'll try to see if I can get some pictures in.

    Thanks.

Yep. Normal 32mm wrenches are too thick to fit in there.

You'll have to grind it down, or get a headset wrench from a bike shop to get in there.

I was able to use a generic adjustable wrench which just so happened to be 32mm at the widest point. It was thin enough to fit, or the bike shop headset wrench works as well.

Buy a cheap-ass wrench, 32mm or 1-1/8" works too, then grind the open end side thin enough to fit in there.

Then you'll have a tool all your E30 friends will be able to use.

I was able to use an unmodified 1 1/8" gearwrench wrench, getting at it from the bottom. I did have to take off two of the water pump pulley bolts though to get it to fit, which worked out nicely since I had to take the pulley off anyways to replace the pump.

              fyi, It's 1 1/4". Not 1 1/8".

I hate that you just wrote that... I just bought another 32mm headset wrench from Amazon.

                  Damn it. :(

                  Anybody want a 32mm wrench?
