need help? 325e bottom end / 325is head???

whats up guys, just picked up 89 325is 5spd., guy who i picked up the car from forgot to tell me that the car has a 325e (2.7l) bottom end, and the stock 325is head on the motor, also just found out the cylinder 2 has low compression, so my question s kinda like where do i go from here? i dont even know why he would do such combination with that block and head?

    thanks

do a wet compression test and leak down test. The drop in compression could be a number of things. head gasket, piston rings, or valves.
