    Something I noticed recently...

A euro E28 (520i) 83' I believe, has a stamped steel oil pan (M20) Any confirmation of the M20B20 pan fitting an M20B25-27?

EDIT: looked around on realoem and by the pics it looks a little different than the E30 pan, will it even fit the E30 if it fits the motor?

i don't think an e28 pan will fit the e30s subframe etc. why do you want the stamped steel pan?

Probably so it doesn't shatter when hit.

There were some steel pans sold in Europe. I know a buddy has one on his e21 with an m20b27 block. They are quite hard to come by though.

I ask because a steel pan can take alot more abuse. According to realoem they are only $166. And it is still available for purchase.

People put the M30 in the E30 all the time with no clearance issues so why wouldn't the M20B20 pan not clear?

Well the m30 swap uses the e34 pan. Not sure if It matters here though.

                Ah, I see now.

Still want an answer from someone who has done it or tried to do it.

Wouldn't be too tough to modify it either.

Well realoem's pricing is typically way off I would talk to the dealer or check out tischerbmw on the web for pricing and availability.

what's the part number? i'll have to do it next time i go down there, they give me different prices over the phone than they do in person. it's always funny to call and have them pull a part for me and then get there and have them say "oh, it's you" and then watch them change the purchase order. special prices ftw.

E21 323i also has a steel pan that would work.
