I'm assuming my thermostat is working..because without it my car just plain overheats.
I'm going to flush my radiator tomorrow and put new coolant and bleed it while squeezing the lower radiator hose and hope for the best..because I simply don't see how a new radiator and a new thermostat could account for lack of circulation.
dumb overheating AGAIN

Yes
You think theres a huge air bubble in my radiator? What do you mean blowing in the overflow tank? The heat in my car is already a nice temperature.Leave a comment:

I'd say you still have air in the system. Have you tried blowing in the overflow tank while the bleeder is open? I took me 30 minutes to bleed it after i took off the head. I just kept doing it over and over till the heater finally got hot.Leave a comment:

I know, I always had the thermostat installed. I'm just saying that if my thermostat was faulty and not opening, then temporarily removing it to test if its circulating through the radiator would prove that it's faulty. However, coolant was not hot in the lower hose neither when I removed the thermostat or when it was there.Leave a comment:

lots of cooling systems need the thermo installed to work properly. without it the coolant wont flow in the correct passages.Leave a comment:

My lower radiator hose is not warm, its cool as heck, while all other hoses are warm.
I checked my thermostat and tested it in near boiling water. It didn't open.
I put my cooling system back together without the thermstat to see if it would circulate through the radiator. I just let the car run until the halfway mark cause it'll obviously overheat without the thermostat. I checked the lower hose and it was still really cool. Whaaaaa?
Could it be a clogged radiator? I mean, it's pretty new and still shiny.
I hate working in this weather. Trying to get the thermostat would take me 5 minutes tops in warm weather. It took me 30minutes in 4* weather. bloody hell.Leave a comment:

The other alternative is your radiator dirty? The cooling fins can get filled with crude over the years and make it hard for air to pass through them. Have you ever cleaned it out?
I would not use water at this point due to temperatures but compressed air works great.Leave a comment:

The aux fan is only necessary when A/C is in use in hot weather. If the engine is running hot at idle and cools off with an increase in engine speed or when the car is moving the fan clutch and/or air in the cooling system become the prime suspects in this case.Leave a comment:

Well, my aux fan doesn't work (even when the A/C is turned on), and I'm experiencing the same things as you. The aux fan is supposed to come on at a certain temperature even if the A/C is not on.
I would think that it does make a difference. The fan clutch can't cool the engine enough by itself, so it will run hot while idling. But when you're moving, the air can help cool the engine, so it doesn't run hot.Leave a comment:
