Getting crappy idle!

I have a 86 325es and when I am sitting at a light the needle on the tach will go from 1000k to 0 and move around up and down in between and sometimes it acts like its going to die anyone know what is causing it? I would like to get it fixed its so annoying.

hmmm i had the same problem and i changed my coolant temp. sensor and my problem was fixed, but i have an m20b25 so im not sure if the b27 has it

sounds like a vacuum leak. have a smoke test done on the intake
