Alright guys I made a thread about a month ago explaining an idling issue. Here's a new one because my posts were all over regarding the air leaks and now this is the problem at hand.
My car had an air leak and the idle would just pitter out entirely. I traced it to bad intake manifold gaskets. Along the way, I changed every single damn hose in that engine bay and there are no more coolant/oil/air leaks and the car idles fine.
The problem I had before I tore the car apart to search for the air leak (it got worse and worse and louder and louder until I fixed it) was that while driving the car would tach up fine. Then as I drive the engine will tach to 2k and then go to 1k, even with my foot giving the gas constant pressure (automatic transmission.) When keeping the foot to the pedal the tach will spike between 1k and 2k and the car would lurch forward at 2k. This is not transmission related because when I manipulate the throttle by hand the engine will have that problem. By doing this for a while I get the CEL and the stomp test won't work on my car to figure it out (unless that issue can be fixed). When the car isn't giving me that 1-2k issue it accelerates and feels just like it should when driving but it happens so often that I can't risk driving it.
Things changed: as mentioned, every hose and gasket in the bay and now the idle is good. I changed the FPR, fuel filter, and added additives to the fuel thinking it may have been bad gas. My injectors seem to work fine as does the pump because the car runs fine sometimes but doesn't most of the time (injectors and pump are "work or doesn't" I believe). Fuel relay, main relay, ignition coil, AFM and ICV were properly tested and swapped to a working car and those are not the issues either.
With school starting back up on the 18th I'm running low on time and if I can't figure it out I'm gonna have to send it in to the shop, something I'd rather not do since I've done just about everything so far.
