This is what I meant by taking back to stock form. Otherwise you cannot rule out the possibility that something with your maf conversion took a crap.

Also when you said CPS for some reason I was thinking of the CTS. However I don't think the CPS is the issue. If it was I don't think the car would run at all.

If your O2 sensor has an unknown history I would definitely change it. FWIW BMW recommends changing the O2 sensor every 50K.

Good luck with this one Abby. Mine did the exact same thing, I mean exact.
Ended up being a fuel injector supposedly. Got that changed out, ran perfect for like 2 weeks and now its acting up again.

          Fuck a M20, especially fuck a MAF kitted M20.

            Okay I see.
And I'll be changing the O2 sensor this week hopefully. Thank you man.

Please buy a new CPS along with your 02 sensor. When I had troubles with mine, it would hold enough charge to turn the car on and to get me going on a cold running engine for 5-10 miles, after that the car would start to sputter and bog out as if it was starving for fuel. Finally it started to turn off on me, at one time I thought it was a bad ECU but after asking close to a dozen people and changing all of the related things close to the problem. I got it to the Castros to find out my CPS was cracked and had some wires exposed. I could have saved myself a lot of money if I just changed that first.

You're winning me over right now because when I turn on my car, I can get to where I want on a cold engine only for maybe 2 miles if that, then it will start dancing and sputter on me.
Think I'm making a trip to Ireland Eng. today then, thanks E.

Good luck with yours Harry. Did you also change the named items?

Installing new O2 sensor and CPS tomorrow morning and I'll update this.
If nothing, I'm off to Castro's for further inspection :|

                        Thanks again people

Well, some good news and bad news I guess.

Changed to a brand new O2 sensor and didn't really get any improvements and still had a CEL light.
Disconnected the battery for 2 minutes, then turned on the car and my CEL went away. Took it out for a drive and I'd say it runs around 40% better now.

I still sputter, but my RPMs still go up, when giving some gas after letting go.
It used to sputter and hit a brick wall at around 3rpm and have no go at all.

I'm a little bit confident to drive it to the shop as I had zero before.

Bad news is my CPS bolt is stripped so I can't change that out at the moment :-|

                              Word, hopefully.
Mine was covered in gunk and oil by the way if that means anything since they are magnetic sensors.

with regards to sounding like a camaro, sounds like the flange from the exhaust manifold to the cat is shot. Same thing happened to me- gas smell, horrible american muscle sound :)
