    Casting Number

Trying to figure what this engine came out of. The # is 21806260. The guy I bought it from flaked out on me. So I need to know if it is possible to figure what year it came out of. I am swapping it into a 90 325is, so there might be some differences if it is early body 325. Just want to make sure.

The only difference between the early and later M20B25's are that early production blocks (up to 3/88) have different main bearings and that after 6/88 lighter pistons were used. Otherwise all M20B25's are the same except for the waterpump. The block casting on an ETA engine is the same as used on an M20B25, but the crank, pistons, rods, and head are different.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
