    Non stop revving

So this just started happening suddenly with no signs of it beforehand. When I start my car it will continually bounce the revs from 1-2.1k when the clutch is in or it's in neutral. I can still drive it, but whenever I go to shift it revs up a couple hundred RPMs when I put in the clutch, no matter what I do with the gas. At idle it will just bounce up and down.

Vacuum leak? Throttle body? TPS? What should I start with?

search "idle surge" im guessing ICV or bad coolant sensor sending ICV nuts.

I just dealt with this on my 325is.. Its the TPS. its what controls the ICV and tells it when you activate and so on. there is an easy test with an ohm meter. Google E30 ICV test and check it out.

or possibly a vacuum leak. Test out the TPS and if it's still happening clean out the ICV. If it still happens try borrowing a known good one before replacing it.
