Engine dies but then starts fine (cold weather related?)

    Here are the syptoms:

    - Sometimes I am cruising along and the power just cuts out, everything stays lit and works fine, pedal just goes dead. If I stomp on the pedal a few times power will kick back in
    - The last two times this happened, instead of getting power back all the lights on the dash go off like a xmas tree and the car dies
    - When it died I just turned the key off and started the car right up, no issues at all, everything normal
    - This appears to be only happening when cold outside (or it is a new problem)

Could it be something in the fuel system cutting out? Anyone have anything like this before?

When being driven at speeds above 45mph and the power goes away does the tach take a large drop? If it does, the DME is loosing timing data or power. If the tach doesn't drop but the econometer drives towards zero there is a problem with the fuel system.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Happend today again, it was the econ going to zero.

What is the first thing(s) I should check on fuel sys? Sounds like it could be a bad connection (open circuit) since it's intermittent.

The econometer going to zero suggests that the car has a fuel delivery issue. This could be a clogged filter, bad fuel pump relay, dying pump, or bad FPR. If the car is an 88 or later C191 (below the intake) could be corroded.
