    engine mount using bolt

    I've just turned up some aluminium and PU engine mounts for my M20 20b. I thought I would just use a bolt instead of a double ended stud. Is there any reason this won't work?

    It will work fine. It just transmits more NVH into the car but no worries there since you are already going with alum or poly .

    Or you could always cobble up some steel engine mount arms and just weld them directly to the subframe. :D

      It's for a E30 series race car. The rules don't allow full metal mounts :)

        Are you allowed to weld in subframe reinforcements for the engine mounts?
        Prevents the mount fasteners from cracking the subframe or ripping a chunk out of it.

          No, I don't think so. Is that a common problem when using Polyurethane mounts?

            It is common in both E30 and E36 chassis.
            My personal experience was with my E30M3 on factory mounts....The car they say has a torque deficit.:)
