Sheared off spark plugs threads in the head

Doing a routine tune up on a '92 325i m20, when my #6 spark plug threads reamed out. Did a thread insert repair, all went well. Due to the recessed access to the threads it was recommended to use a spark plug to drive the new thread insert in flush, again, all went well. UNTIL...when I went to remove the spark plug the threaded cylinder and spark plug firing node sheared off and are stuck in the new thread insert. Question: Would one of those stripped screw removal tools remove it without shredding the new thread insert? Am I hopelessly screwed? It figures a simple tune up and timing belt replacement would turn into a crazy ordeal.

Used an easy out extractor ($20) and half a tube of elbow grease and out they came, no muss, no fuss. If anyone cares.
