What motor is this? (pics inside)

This car has had alot of owners and each one has changed stuff on this car... that said can anyone identify this motor for sure?

Also, if it is a stock 2.7L ETA engine...what should the fuel pressure be?
My gauge is showing 30psi when running.

Oh ya, forgot to say its a 1987 325e... or at least thats what it started life out as.
Now it has alot of 325i parts on it including a LSD diff with 3:73 gears, trunk lid, gauges, hood and a few other odds and ends.

Well is it an "e" car. It is definitely a m20 motor of some kind. Fuel pressure could be different depending on what mods the motor has... I think. Although your fuel pressure seams almost fine. I think it should be around 30-40psi depending on if it is a b25 or b27.

you should figure out what the motor is. it might be a combo of two different motors.
The last 3 digits of the head part number will be "200" if it's a Eta head, "731" for a 320i/323i, and "885" for a Super Eta or 325i.
you might also want to contact the person you bought the car from and see if they have any good info on the motor.

Looks like a standard 325e m20B27 motor from what the manifold looks like.

Where would the head part number be located at?

Previous owner is about as useful as a turd rolling up hill... he bought it with the intention to repair it and resell it and then realised he doesn't have any mechanical know-how lol.

I think you can also tell by the exhaust if its I or E.

The intake manifold strongly suggests that the engine is an M20B27 (ETA). In which case 30psi in the fuel rail would be correct.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I kind of figured it was a stock engine.

I'm going to drive it as-is for now until the engine blows (it burns oil pretty bad and uses coolant) then i have a nice 302 to go into the car but i need to find a T5 trans for it and some gt40p heads.

                    Thanks guys :D

                      +1

Also check the exhaust, if it is a single pipe back than it should be an eta, other wise it is an i. The valve cover also looks eta vs i.

Its a 2 piece exhaust manifold off the engine that T's into 1 piece around the crossmember.

sounds like an eta exhaust if it has a single exhaust pipe in the back.
