Again, sputtering BAD, misifring, low/no power etc. HELP!

Replaced plugs, rotor, cap, air, and fuel filter. I also tried replacing the Crankshaft Position Sensor, but took it back off because it wasn't the problem.

The car starts and usually dies unless I am inside keeping my foot in it. It idles like it has a monster camshaft in it. When cold it misfires like you wouldn't believe. It's borderline dangerous because it wont move under it's own power. When driving it wont go over 3k rpm when it's cold. That's feathering the throttle a ton. When it comes to an idle, same as before idles like it has a big cam. Whump whump, whump whump...etc.

When the car is warm, idles less crazy, but still bad. I can get the car to drive 55-60mph, but it's hesitant and doesn't feel 'right'. The check engine light will come on when cruising, but will go off once I come back down from cruising speed. My car wont flash codes so I can't do that. Also, once warm, it will sometimes run really good, almost like normal. I can floor it and it will go, grab second gear, and continue to climb, like it's ok.

Anytime when idling, I can rev the car and when it comes back to idle it about dies. My buddy and I also checked for air leaks and fixed one but it didn't do anything. I've read numerous threads where people have pretty much thrown parts at the car until it started working again. Anyone?

Please help, my backup vehicle, my truck got hit by a plow truck while parked and is in limp mode and undrivable. Thanks city of Mount Clemens. Dealing w/ the city is a blast. So now I'm driving my brother's backup vehicle which is not the greatest...

Here is a video from a cell phone, it's not the greatest, but hopefully it will help someone.

have a smoke test run to check for intake leaks and run the fuel system tests in the Bentley. While the car is at the shop for the smoke test have the DME scanned for fault codes and tell us what they are.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

i had the same thing happen to my eta when i forgot to put the hoist hook back on the front of the head. causing not enough clearance and was rubbing the rotor on the cap. check those, for any issue.

Do you guys take your stuff to BMW dealers usually? Or just a regular shop?

The rotor was rubbing on the cap? I took mine off after changing it again and it looks ok.

          DIY.. most people on here.

Not sure how your problem would relate to when the ICV is completely trashed but maybe someone else can chime in on that one.

I'm gonna go with jlevie on pulling the codes and doing a smoke test.

Alright. Thanks. I'll try and figure out where to get a smoke test.

Yeah, I am used to working on my own stuff, but domestic vehicles. I never knew 50 things on a BMW that could cause one problem... :D
