    Help! I need a head for an 88 325i.

My car is an 88. 325i. My old head was junk, so i found the 86 head and thought it would work. I had it reworked and cleaned, but it dont fit so now. Im lookin for a head for my 88 325i. Like I said I have an 86 head that has been reworked and clean. Willing to trade for an 88 head. I need it asap. Let me know. Thanks.

No the 86 model is 2.5 liter and mine is a 2.7. I got the 86 head and thought it would work, and my old head is junk.

What won't fit? It is somewhat common to run "i" heads on "e" bottom ends.

The pistons hit the head. The 86 head requires different pistons than what they 88 has.

He wound up trying to run an e head on an i bottom end.

You're looking for an 885 head. You can find them for under $100 if you look in the for sale section here and on other forums (e30tech, etc.). Junk yards have them even cheaper.

              Good luck.

                    Your 88 325i is a 2.5L. The 86 325e is a 2.7L

You can use any 325i head from 87-91.
