I have an 88 325ix and the number 1 cylinder isn't firing. There is some white smoke coming out the back. Thinking a blown head gasket not sure. Number 3 cylinder is firing fine, which is throwing me off. Changed distributor cap no change. There is a clicking knocking noise coming from the engine. Any ideas? Valve adjustment?

Pull the valve cover and check the rockers for cylinder 1.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

wouldnt that mean timing belt broke on it at one point? and i will be sure to do that sunday. the car is 2 hours away from me so trying to see what parts i need before i go back down there to work on it. need to get it running so i can get it home.Comment
