m20 alternator tensioner

    m20 alternator tensioner

    My belt is makeing some noise.i try tightening the tensioner(its to the point where it wont go no more) and belt is stell loose.Any help would good.

    The alternator itself has the ability to put tension on the belt. The upper screw in the alternator that goes into that little support strap, has gear teeth on the front side that mesh into recessed teeth on the strap and it can move up and down the strap to increase tension. If the teeth are missing or not working like mine, just pull the bolt out part of the way move the alternator by hand and put the bolt back in and retighten.

      If you have moved the alternator all the way out and the belt is still loose, the belt has stretched and needs to be replaced.
      The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
