    325 wont idle

Alright, so the car has been sitting for about a year, the differential is shot and I didn't have any money to put into the car. I have about $700 spare right now so I was going to fix it up. I added some new gas and gave the battery a jump and it started right up, only problem is that as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator the engine conks out. I took a video (it isn't high quality) and if any of you have any ideas of what it might be or any suggestions that might help me out, let me know. My thoughts are Fuel Pump, Ignition Coil or TPS but I don't particularily want to spend money to get it diagnosed or spend money replacing what I don't have to. Fuel Pump is my my leading hunch. But let me know what you guys think - Is there anyway to check these things and narrow it down?

    Here is the video:

If the plugs were bad, wouldn't that keep it from starting all together? I'll take a look at my Bentley's and see what that says, but pretty sure that would keep it from firing all together. Correct me if I am wrong.

The reason I thought it was Fuel Pump was cause it still had some gas in it (not much at all) and I didn't even think to syphon it out before adding the new gas. Was thinking bad gas/debris could have messed with the fuel pump.

As I understand it, your fuel pump is either working or it isn't. no inbetween.

When I first bougtht my car it had been sitting for a while. When I drove it the day after it it died on the side of the road, even with my foot on the trottle it wouldn't fire at all, it would just "catch" a few times like it was trying.

but a few months ago my car was generally running like shit. When I put in a new ICV it would die out if I took my foot off. I had to turn up the idle speed for it to run. When I put new plugs in it seemed to fix almost everything. It now runs very smooth.

If you hanen't changed the plugs in hta last year I would give that a try. they're not expensive, IIRC, I recently I paid around $20 for a set of Bosche Plats

So you think if the fuel pump was bad it would not even start? Phew. I was hoping it wasn't the fuel pump cause that is like $170.

Yeah, Spark plugs are only like $5-8/plug so at most $42 for a set.

A lot of people are saying since it starts up and runs when the accelerator is pressed that it is most likely not something with fuel (at least not the fuel pump, filter, injectors etc) or ignition system. A lot of people are telling me to check the Throttle Body and clean it or replace the MAF Sensor or TPS.

Any other ideas from you guys?

Alright, so went out and went to check the throttle body, and there was a crack (a pretty big one) in the intake boot. Do you guys think that would cause it to actually conk out? I was under impression that a crack in a hose or such would just cause a rough, erratic idle not actually cause the engine to conk out. Anyone have an idea?

I ordered a new intake book, should be here in a few days hopefully.

while you have the AFM out, I recomend pushing the door opened with your finger to make sure it's not getting caught on anyhting. I think that was the main problem with my idle problem.
