should I be worried? comp. test.

so I've been getting ready to do my timing belt this weekend. Decided to do a compression test today.

Coolant is totally fine. Oil is totally fine. Noticed I have a tiny bit of white smoke. Check out the video.

Plugs.. look lean to me..? i'm gonna replace them in the morning.

I'm not an advanced mechanic so I'd really appreciate some guidance here. The car runs fine, and I'm just to the level of changing the timing belt, there's no way I could pull the head I don't think. Not that I'd do it soon. But I also don't want to like drive it until it dies. I guess I don't know what to make of it.

    bad smoke?

photos 1-6 are the compressions with this crappy gauge.
7-12 are the plugs, in order 1-6.

30psi difference between the lowest and highest is more than there should be. Get the leak down numbers for a better idea of what the cause is.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

white smoke is water. but yeah i leak down test would be the best thing to do because you can pin point the leak.

how are you taking the compression test?
disable fuel and ignition, wide open throttle, remove all spark plugs, do not crank more that 5 revolutions.

I've never done a leakdown test. Don't have te kit or the knowledge. I did forget to hold the pedal to the floor for any of them. I pulled the master relay and removed all the plugs. I thought I was to let it crank once for each cylinder. So 6. Some I did 7. Did 4 and 5 twice. Slightly better numbers the 2nd time but still like 15-20 lower.

Shit. I'm too broke for a leak down test. And way too broke for a head gasket job. Fun times.

I say do it again when you get the chance with WOT. your spark plugs do not look to bad. you should see my plugs after just 3000 ish miles.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm pretty limited without an air compressor at the moment. Gonna do the test right tomorrow.

I did. 4 and 5 are still low. But not by as much. 15ish. Not gonna do a head gasket until I have to. I'll be keeping an eye on the coolant and oil for sure. But until I have any symptoms I'm gonna follow the if its not broke rule. Still sucks though. trying to finish the timing belt I'm doing right now.

                      What a loud of fun.
