    Head Rebuild

I just bought my E30 about a month ago. When i park the car, i get large pools of oil. So I inspected the bay and think its related to the head gasket. When i started taking the intake off. I noticed a good amount of oil in the manifold that was running all the way to the filter. Now im not sure were my oil leak is. I dont think its my rings because ive never seen the car smoke.
I figured id play it safe and just reseal the whole head. So I ordered the felpro head kit and a tbelt kit since my car is due. Now i want to know if there are any seals missing from this kit to completely reseal my top end ( including intake parts).
Also I was wondering how oil got all the way to my air filter without blown rings.
Any help would be appreciated, any one free to come take a look would be even better, this is my first time taking apart a Bimmer and I really want to do this right the first time.
    Thanks

If you are going to rebuild the head make sure to replace all your valve seals. That could be why you are getting a ton of oil in the intake manifold.

the victor rienz head gasket kit comes with valve seals, and every gasket the head needs. if you have no idea what u r doing and do not have the proper tools, ie a valve spring compressor then find a motor shop and have them do it
get new head bolts the kit does not come with them.
just a warning , your rocker arms may need to be replaced, they might be worn, if they do 99% of the time the cam lobes would be worn down and damaged too meaning replacement. if you have overheated your engine often or badly, there is a good chance your head might be warped, if that the case, find another head and rebuild that one.

head pressure test, leak test, and head resurface, dual angle valve job , clean up valves or replace them. its a job. Im in the middle of doing it right now
        hope that helps

Thats sure is a long list of things not on my list yet. Crossing my fingers on the head and rockers. I'm really just trying to get the motor to a reliable place, so i can collect parts for a M50 swap. If i really need to get expensive work done, i might have to call the project a dud for a while. :p

I would send out the head that is being rebuilt to a machine shop and have them replace the valve seals and rebuild the head before installing.

Im trying to get my intake off. But the hose running to the booster has clamps around it ive never seen. they are just flat rings with a triangular pinch at the top. Does anyone know how to remove these.

If its the clamp I am thinking about you just cut the part that sticks up. Then replace with a screw clamp.

do a leak down before you disassemble the head. easiest way to tell if it's your valve seals or the piston rings.

have the head resurfaced change ur valve seals definitely change ur rocker arms those are 20+ years old and will break and its a pain to have to go back and swap them again. oil in your intake could be from the valve cover hose that goes to your intake. take a filter and delete that hose and see if that fixes the problem.
