I picked up a 1989 325is with a supposedly rebuilt motor. The car was in pieces and the engine was not in it. I put everything together and assembled everything i know how to off the top of my head. Having never done this amount of work on a BMW im not sure how picky their ECU's are. I DO NOT have all the wiring plugged in as for i dont even know where they all plug into yet but my question is will the car stop the engine from turning over without all the wires plugged in? Not even my starter will kick over when i turn the ignition, i know for fact its getting power.
Usually the work i do is on Japanese and American cars and their ECU's arent as picky, whatever is plugged in will work.
The thing im wondering is if even an 89' BMW is smart enough to not let the car attempt starting without everything plugged in or if maybe i have a more serious problem on my hands?
I know i should spend hours searching the forums before i ask a question like this but it needs to run by tomorrow i dont have time to spend searching. im just looking for a little simple imput from people who work on BMW's.
Thank you in advance and sorry for not doing a whole lot of searching due to my lack of time.
