I plugged the pump back in my other car and it still worked.
so I compared the fuses to my running car checking every one.
then took out the main and fuel pump relay from my parts car and put them in and it started again.
then i turned it off to finish tightening the fuel hose on the fuel pump
then tried again and it wouldn't start.
I basically have no clue why its not starting. but I have learned that valuable lesson of don't buy something you cant drive first...
So am I getting this right? You pulled a known good pump from the 325i installed it and it started, shut it off with the same known good pump still installed and proceeded to pull fuses?
I don't completely understand why you did that if it was working, did it die?
Then you swapped relays, got it to start momentarily then it died again?
Check the resistance on your CPS, my bet is it is infinite because the sensor has kicked the bucket.
Yes the pump is from a known running car and will start the other car.
I checked the rest of the fuses because I was about to go for a drive and some of them were blown. I just put the engine in a couple of days ago so I was going to take it for a drive to iron of the kinks.
I swapped relays and it started again. Both times I have turned it off by key. then it wont start agian.
The pump not running when cranking the engine could be a problem with the pump or it's wiring, a problem with fuel pump relay or fuse, or a lack of the fuel pump control signal from the DME. The latter could be a bad CPS, bad main relay, a power or ground issue for the DME, or a bad DME.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I took the cps form my parts car and hooked it up and it started up and ran. It started 4 times in a row. I let the car run for about 10 minutes and it was idling alittle ruff but alright. then I saw what looked like it could be light smoke or dust rising in the back ( I was in a gravel parking lot and I had just reved the engine a couple of times) . I shut it down to make sure I didn't damage the pump. I then pulled out the pumped tested it outside the car it was still good. put it back in and the car won't start again...
Like I keep thinking its fixed then it goes right back to square one
Check the shielding on the harness side of the CPS connector, then try wiggling the fuel pump connector with the engine running and see if it dies, this is assuming you can get it to run. I suspect damaged shielding or a broken wire at one of these locations respectively.
Also I cam back from lunch hooked up to the running bronco and it started right up. wiggled wires on fuel pump, cps connector, and a bunch of other stuff no matter what it did not turn off. turned it on and off multiple times and everything was fine. ( side not the battery is dead going to switch that next.) anyway finally went for a drive with no problems. got back down to the shop. try to crank it by itself and nothing. tried to jump start it and nothing.
no its not the k7 relay. I pulled the ones of my girlfriends running car and it still wouldn't start. I dont know why but I feel like If I leave it for a while it will start again...
