E30 single pipe conversion. The way to go?

    Hello,

I bought a group of e30 parts and ended up with the following:

Standard iron exhaust manifolds going into 2 pipes, the 2 pipes blend down into one pipe which is 2 1/4" OD. later down the line it separates into 2 pipes again into what looks like a Cat. converter. Out of the converter are 2 pipe which bolt onto a standard cat. back exhaust system.

Is this a trick set up? It looks custom but I am not sure.

Here is what it sounds like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg-TVYfKZSo

The Youtube video is the system before the cat. back is bolted into place.

Does this look like a toss up when considering power? Gain or loss?

    Thanks for any ideas

    Chuck

The stock down tubes for an M20B25 are somewhat like your description and that may be what you have.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
