damn thermostat housing!!

So im in the middle of doing timing belt and a whole slew of other things. One of witch is replacing the gasket where the thermostat housing meets the block. but i cant seem to get the fucker off. it wont make it passed the fuel rail:hitler:(black thing that connects to the injectors?). am i just missing someting... im sure there is just something minor im missing any help would be great thanks.

The fuel rail has to come off to remove the thermostat housing.

jlevie is correct...even just loosening every bolt on fuel rail isn't enough. take it all the way off.

I actually ended up unbolting it as much as I could and barely got it out of the way. There was some effort involved though. Fuel rail is a pain in the ass.
