Help! Valves Ticking and i cant figure out why!

my 1987 325is is ticking like mad. The engine almost sounds like a turbo diesel.
I've taken the car to the shop and they dismantled the head and used a gasket kit for the cleaning and inspection. they then adjusted my valves and the ticking still hasnt gone away (though it has lessened).
    what could this be?!

This again? The car ticks, it's not a fancy new engine.

Do some math and readjust your valve clearances at the cam. Its possible the tips of your valves are concave along with your eccentrics giving a false reading from the feeler gauges.

How do you recommend OP adjusts his valve timing?

the Bently manual is something you need to own for this job. ALWAYS do the valve adjustment when the engine is very cold.
                    Much wow

I have a bentley manual. ill check for the concave, then if thats all clear, learn to love the ticking.

It's because you only have 12 valves.
