    exhaust stud alternative

Replacing the exhaust manifolds on my car. (i only had to remove 4 bolts to get BOTH of them out! :O

Anyways, ive heard of people using bolts instead of the expensive exhaust studs as a replacement.
Could anyone reccommend me a part number i can order for a good heat resistant alternative??

Why are they all different sizes?

You linked the page for the intake manifold. You want the exhaust manifold page found below. Also, typically you dont want to thread a bolt in and out of aluminum, especially at odd angles such as this with large heavy pipes attached. Stock studs are the right way to go imho.

The studs that hold the exhaust manifolds on can be replaced with bolts. Allen headed socket cap scres work well. But the studs make it a lot easier to get the gaskets and headers on the engine. That alone is enough for me to keep using the studs. One thing that helps is to use new copper plated lock nuts each time you remove the manifolds. All things considered, the studs and nuts are a minor expense.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I concur. All it tales is one stripped out hole in the head to ruin your day (and many more). Go with the studs if you can.

okay, so would you recommend me leaving the studs that are already in the head there? and just getting a couple new ones to fill the remaining holes? (there were a few missing when i got the car)
are they all the same size? or do they vary?

i linked the one i did because the one you linked doesnt have the studs that go thru the manifolds into the headers. only the studs that come off the bottom of the manifolds.

The part number you want is 07129908134, you were right in your listing. I had most of those bookmarked from a past order.
