Power steering belt sounds like chewbacca

Well I did a timing belt/water pump replace on my 86 es yesterday and all went smoothly and car runs great. However, when stationary and I turn the wheel the power steering belt (at least thats my guess) makes a sound similar to a wookie… Anyway, you can see how this would be annoying. Any suggestions as to why it would be doing this? Is it skipping or something? I checked and its plenty tight. Let me know what you think.

    Thanks

Edit: Just to be clear, its a LOUD wookie...

A glazed (worn out belt) can make noise even when properly tensioned. However, if the belt is new and properly tensioned, the noise could be from a bad pump or a bad rack. It may be a good time to have a pro assess the situation.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Well I never had any problems with it before that. And the belt was pretty new, I had changed it out not long ago. I'm not sure but the noise is kind of deminishing, like the wheel needs to be turned a little further for it to make the sound.

Could it be that when I was putting it together I just got some grease or grime on the belt/pulley and it sliding around a little?

Figured it out, my friend who helped me through the whole thing was a lazy shit and didn't tighten one of the bolts at all… Oi vey. Oh well, no more wookies!
