From the switch or from the plug alongside the steering column? The switch has hot at all times, accessory, ignition, and starter wires. There's a bunch of wires going to the connector for the switch, wipers, turn signal, horn, cruise control, and OBC.
The wiring diagrams at http://wedophones.com/BMWManualsLead.htm can be used to figure out what wire whas what function.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
