My m20 has been running great up until about 3 months ago when it just died on me while cruising. After about 20 min of it sitting it cranked right up and was running fine. Got home, jumped on R3v, read a few threads and ordered the usual for this kind of issue. Main, fuel and O2 heater relays and CPS. Received the parts and was goin to wait for the problem to happen again until i started swapping out parts to pinpoint the problem. It happend again the other day so i swapped out the 3 relays. No change. Waited about 30 min cranked it right up and went home to swap out the CPS. It ran fine until today when it stalled out again. This time i had a spark plug tester and a fuel gauge i rented from autozone . Spark was fine so that left fuel, hooked it up and not even 10 psi. So i have a fuel delivery issue. After letting it sit it cranked right up and the pressure held at 38 psi. Bentley says it should be around 43. I do have the 3.0 bar regulator. I replaced the pump back in '08 since the old bosch unit died on me. I checked the fuel pump connections at the tank and they seem tight and i checked the connections at the pump still tight. Could i have a defective FPR thats randomly hanging open to cause no pressure at the rail??? I pinched off the return line slowly at the FPR and the pressure jumped depending on how tight i pinched the line. It happens so randomly and sometimes not for weeks but when i go for a drive longer than say...30 miles this problem shows up. What am i missing?
