    Cock eyed motor.

Long story short, I had a 318is with a blown motor, and a freshly rebuilt m20 sitting in my garage so I had the genius idea to put it in the car, everything went very well all the hoses and wiring and such are hooked up.

But the issue is the motor seems to be crooked in the tranny tunnel, i have m20 motor and tranny mounts but the entire assembly appears to be off to the left about an inch and a half. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what I did wrong? :(

you mean the engine is tilted? or the engine isn't straight in the engine bay?

    Pictures would help.

My guess would be wrong engine mounts?

Did you use a Getrag 260 transmission (off an M20 engine) or the transmission from the 318is? The 318 transmission will mate up to the eninge but won't match up to the transmission mounts.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The entire assembly when looking at it from the front of the car is going off towards the right.

I used the getrag 240 tranny from the m42, and got the corresponding mounts for it. From what I had read that was all that needed to be done.

As level as any m20 is.

That is the reason it is cocked. The 240 is clocked to a different angle than a 260 transmission.
