So I am looking for some answers.....

My e is faster than stock. I just wanna know what is altered from stock and I am trying to narrow it down. To start off, it has a ram air intake and I have the stock intake manifolds on my porch. So I am assuming they are upgraded. I just took the ecu out to check if it was chipped. So I need some help.

Here is the motor. Chime in if you notice anything weird.

Here is the chip that is in there. Is this stock?

I have never heard of an ACS chip for a 325e. It might just be an ebay clone with the ACS logo put on it, I would be interested to know if it was real. The chip says it is for an 027 ECU so it hasn't been converted to a "327i". They might have done some head work and they may have changed the differential. Did you run the 1/4 mile? what are you using as a metric to compare it to stock?

Other than spray paint mods the engine appears stock. A chip does help the 325e a lot though. As mentioned it's most likely an eBay copy. Since it's already in there I say keep it in there! Another amazing upgrade for the Eta cars is going to a 3.25 LSD.

          The yellow dipstick and this.

But I will make a video tonight of it accelerating. Someone with a stock e drove my car the other night and I asked him how it compared to his and he said my car pulls alot harder. I already thought it was kinda peppy, but this confirmed it.

The reason I looked to see if it had a chip was because I was planning on getting a MarkD. I am going to see if higher octane fuel will do anything since I have never used any. An ebay chip would still require higher octane correct?

Every chip I've seen has required 91 octane.

You most likely have an ebay chip in there, but if it works leave it alone.

The chip makes a night/day difference in an eta, so that could very well be the only real mod done. Hard to tell without tearing apart the motor.

Has the car been hurt in anyway by me only using 87 octane?

Only if you hear the engine pinging.

It doesn't make any abnormal sounds. Just a little tick of the head. I will put some 91 in before I make the vids.

Nah, Eta engines are the spawn of Jesus.

                      Just do 91 starting now.

The chip is bogus and probably a clone of an Auto Authority chip, which I also bought a number of years ago via eBay and had Mark D'Sylva determine what it was, since ACS NEVER produced or sold such a chip, per my discussion with them. The D'Sylva chip in my '83 528e with an '027' ECU produces 15.8 RWHP additional on a dyno. The stock cold air system is better than the system you have, as many people have tested both over the years. Has the rear end been swapped? I changed mine from its stock 2.93 to a 3.46 and it made a big improvement in driving performance. Check out my web site for further info about all these changes.

I had the same question?? I just bought this off CL from an older lady, one owner...she must have lived close to work, she said it was usually only driven 1/4 mile at a time.

This is my first BMW, any help wouold be appreciated.

That power steering reservoir is from an E30 which is what makes your car awesome.
