What size electric fan will fit? (M20)

Ive got a 87 325is and I want to take out the clutch fan and wire up an electric fan in its place.
what size fan will fit and is it a puller or pusher fan?? i think it pushes the air back at the motor but im not certain. If anyone has done this conversion let me know whats worked for you. id like to order the fan friday afternoon if i can get some suggestions
    Thanks
m20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.

You can fit a 16" SPAL puller fan rated at 2300CFM between the radiator and engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The type of car doesn't decide on puller or pusher. Pusher goes in front of the radiator, puller goes behind.

I got the Spall and relay kit from Bimmerworld. I would talk to them.

Unless you are going to install the fan in a full shroud you need a 16" fan.

still make a shroud if you want good air flow- no matter what the size of the fan is

That is correct, a shroud will will improve the effectiveness of the fan. My point was that if you drop back to a 14" fan the shroud becomes essential.
