    272 Eccentric Lash

Are you guys using oem specs? I'm getting scoring at .008 and .010 cold. I have a new overhead oil tube an I'm running valvKline 10w40. not sure if should set it looser this time.

This is after 3 full tanks of driving on a brand new billet grind. ??

Looks like you've simply worn the phosphate coating off of a new billet cam. Have you ever broken in a new cam before?

I'd suggest running synthetic or something zinc additive to your oil if you so choose. It's a good idea for anyone running a 'more than stock' setup.

        stock is 0.012 cold, right?

SkiFree, is the phosphate coating supposed to wear off as it breaks in?

I actually just got off the phone with IE. Im changing over to Valvoline race 20w50 which has ZDDP additive. I'm going to readjust the valves to .012 and see what happens. I'll check after a couple weeks and update this thread with the verdict. Thanks fellas

Edit: the coating is suppose to wear off but it's not really typical on the base of the lobe(I.E. no lift)

            Engine cold: 0.010
            Engine hot : 0.012

Apparently the coating that is on the cam is meant as a rust inhibitor and will wear off during break in.

That's a good sign of your valve lash being too tight. It seems you're addressing both of the potential problem makers.
