Rebuilt Head - Anyone used these places

I'm looking at simply getting a rebuilt 200 casting head from Bavarian Auto Recycling in CA or aluminumheads.com out in oregon.

Anyone ever bought anything from either place? Any other places I should comsider?

Another Quick question, can you simply swap out a 200 casting with a 885? Or do I need a new chip for that?

Bav Auto Recy is rape. Pure and simple. Alum head rebuilders here in portland is a pretty good shop. A friend of a friends family owns it. I havent personally had them rebuild a head, but I have sold them cores.

Thanks, that tracks with my gut feeling. Got a good vibe off Chuck when I spoke with him not so much from Bavarian.

If you did an 885 you would also want the intake manifold, throttle body, wiring harness, and ECU to go with it. All from a 325i/is car. Really common swap.

Bavarian Auto Recycling are a bunch of asswipes and I hope they are reading this. Shitty customer service and they rape you 3 ways from sunday on prices. Bought an ellipsoid from them once.... I will never buy anything from them again.

you should be able to find a decent machine shop locally, then all you need is an uncracked head for them to "rebuild". It's not that complicated, and machine shop that's ever seen a SOHC BMW head should be able to handle it for you.
