    Best Cylinder Head Rebuild? Share Your Thoughts

    So I am interested in rebuilding a spare 885 head I have, then swapping it into my vert over a weekend. I also plan on upgrading the injectors/exhaust/intake/adding a chip while I am at it. My question for you guys is:

    What would be the best semi-budget way to rebuild a cylinder head? I would like to ad a cam while I am at it. Been searching around, picked up some tidbits here and there, would like to see it all compiled here.
    I would like to know what parts are needed and what machine work should be done.

    The parts needed depends entirely on the condition of the head and it's parts. At the minimum I'd have the valves ground, an 0.005" surfacing cut done and install new seals. But the head could require new valve guides, new exhaust valves, new springs, new rockers, etc.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      So should I be starting off by taking it into a machine shop and having them check it out?
      Is the Shrick 272 the best bet for a street motor? I plan on keeping the short block entirely stock, just doing top end work for now.

        Yes. If you strip down the head before taking it to a shop you'll save a bit of money.

        The OE cam is plenty good enough for a street motor if it isn't worn.
