    M20B25 into 318i 1990

Hey guys, new to forum. Already posted about swapping an m42 into my 318i but am thinking maybe its not worth the trouble seeing as i could probably get all the parts for a m20b25 swap and it would be more powerfull etc.

So what exactly would i need? could i use the getrag 240 out of my 318i and my rear end, driveshaft etc? would i need to do some wiring for the c101 or would it just clip in seeing as they're both e30s?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I did a m20 swap into my '84 318. you can use your rear end, you'll need to wire the c101 plug to the 318i harness. you'll need the getrag 260, and a shorter drive shaft as the G240 is shorter therefore a longer D-S. so you'll need any 325i, e, es, is D-S

Why do you say that? similar cost and the m20 has more power and torque. Obviously will give worse handling but I have driven my mates 325i and it handles well enough.

So you're saying my 240 wont work? I have read mixed things about some saying you can some saying you cant, thanks for help so far.

You'll also need the clocks, or tach for a six cylinder *i* model.
Make sure you get the engine mounting arms from the sixer also.
There may have to be changes to the Engine wiring loom/chassis loom connector c101.

The best answer for that is to visit the swap sections on various forums. You'll need even more parts for swapping in the M50 .
