Brand new fuel pump quit workin'.

My 88 325i's brand new fuel pump from advance auto quit working. I replaced the relay and cleaned the filter. But as I was cleaning the filter it had brown comin out of it, rust im guessing. But still why would the new pump just quit workin all of a sudden.

New parts from any source can be bad or fail shortly after installation. But Advance or any other non-OE source would be my last choice for a fuel pump. For that I want only OE parts.

That said, if there is rust in the tank, no pump will last long. Rust is high abrasive and will destroy a high pressure pump in short order. The fix is to either replace the tank with a brand new tank, or acid clean and seal the tank you have.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
