Clutch sticking problem!!

I was driving my 87' 325e last week and after pressing the gas and releasing the clutch in 1st the clutch just stayed down, so i stomped on it, and it came out and i didn't think too much of it. Today i was driving to work and it did this twice only instead of it coming out when i stomped it in i had to reach down there and pull it back up? it didn't do it on the way home either? help me understand what the problem might be.

It could be the slave cylinder, but it could just as easily be the master cylinder.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Check to see if u have a clutch stop too. BMW really half assed it there.

I had the same problem, decided to save some money by just doing the slave. Problem persisted. Replaced master and it was remedied.

Do both.
