You moved the spark plug wires in the process of removing the distributor cap. Have you checked the coil wire to see if it's in spec? The other wires from end-to-end?

A car can be restored many times. It is original only once.

I might have moved one ignition wire but I immediately replaced it. Nothing else was really checked.

I haven't checked the coil or anything because I figured it was only a fuel problem due to the lack of fuel pressure. How could spark affect the fuel pressure gauge (excuse my ignorance)?

It doesn't, of course, if you've confirmed that the fuel pressure is wrong and that the Fuel Pressure Regulator is not the problem, since you've already replaced both fuel pumps. My point is that the spark plug wires and their attachment points are all part of the system and they should also be checked. I've seen faulty ground connections for the ECU cause this same kind of intermittent power problem. You really need to check everything involved, since several problems can combine to create such problems, as I show on my website.

I have the exact same problem and have tried everything suggested. I have also tried a temp sensor. I am getting ready to try changing my wiring harness.

However a friend of mine told me about a spec e30 project in GRM that was having similar problems that where solved by a new fuel tank.
