    what is it?

I have an 88 325i with fuel problems due to rust in the tank. On the passenger side you have the fuel pump. What is it that is behind the driver seat? And also should I just replace the tank and pump or take the tank out and run a 10 gal. Fuel cell with a walbro 2455. Either way i'm gonna run a walbro 255 just not sure if I wanna replace the tank or do a fuel cell. Let me know what y'all think. Thanks.

    Thanks.

The object in the tank on the left side is a fuel level sensor. A rusty tank, if otherwise in cood condition and can be acid cleaned and sealed over a weekend as a DIY for about $70. That is less than a third of the cost of a new tank and far, far, less that a good fuel cell. If you run a stock tank and are going to track or race the car, there are excelent solutions possible using OE pumps. See http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=205579 for a good discussion of fuel systems in a track/race car.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Where do I get the stuff? And what do I buy to restore the tank.
