Get my fan clutch off PLEASE.

    EDIT:

Hey so I've tried and tried and am losing my mind with this damn fan clutch. Anyone in SD willing to help me get this fucker off? I will give you beer money or something haha. I'm seriously ready to just kill it. I've gotten it off plenty of times before but I just cant get it by myself. Let me know if anyone wants/can lend me a hand some time.

Its reverse thread so you turn it to the right when looking at it from the front of the car. They sell a special tool for this but if your cheap like me you wedge a screwdriver in between the small 10mm water pump pulley bolts to keep it still then hit the 32mm wrench with a hammer

Yeah I knew it was reverse thread. I just wasn't overly sure how to go about doing it. Just tricky cause I don't have a lot of area to work, cant even take the hood off so its just kinda awkward haha. I'll try your method though.

yea it helps if the screwdriver is square and you back out the 10mm bolts a hair so there is more room for the screwdriver to rest on

A big ass 32mm or 1 1/4 in wrench plus a chain strap should do the trick

Leverage is your friend. I take it you are probably using a crecent wrench or the like. If you can get it on there, get a pipe on the other end of the wrench as leverage. Make sure the waterpump pulley doesn't spin. I find it easier to put a pair of vice grips on the pulley and spin it till the pliers are resting on something. That way the pulley won't move.

Good luck. And remember, you should be turning the wrench toward the drivers side of the car.

Yeah I know its a reverse thread and what not. Just I cant keep that damn piece on the pulley to not turn. Nothing I try is working to keep it still. I've been using a 32mm slim bicycle wrench thing. I just can't keep the damn thing to stay so I can unscrew the clutch

needs a good whack. then get an electric fan as your replacement and never have this problem. (plus the electric fan is slimmer/ cheaper and wont go out like a clutch fan)

I've always heard that the swapping to the electric setup is far more expensive than using the fan clutch...

hoW much will a new fan clutch be? $35?
you can get an electric one for basically the same price as a new clutch. search ebay and any other sight.

A good electric fan is $60-$100. You're also need a mounting kit at $15. After that, you'll ideally want to run a fan controller which is about $25.

Stock fan clutch is idea IMHO.
