I have one question, have you before the problem started used any sort of fuel treatment such as injector cleaner octane booster ect? If so I had the exact same problem, so I thought it might be my plugs, so I replaced all spark plugs, wires, coil cap and rotor.
It fixed the problem for a day and then it came back worse it would run fine for about half. Mile and then bog out and stall and I noticed my cat got really hot so hot it smoked and it had this rich fuel smell.

I took it to my mechanic and he started diagnosing the problem and was having a hard time figuring it out until I mentioned I had used a fuel treatment on the car just before this all started, as soon as I said that he said that's your problem, he said never to us that stuff on e30's it ruins your injectors he got specific about it but I cant remember what he said the point is don't use additives.

Almost $1000 later and all new injectors my e30 runs like a champ I did a complete rebuild right after. Hope this helps.

I'm looking at this thread for help. Just picked up an 86 325 that has been sitting over a year. Got it running after putting in a tank of premium gas, fuel system cleaner, good working wires & cap & fuel filter. It acts starved of fuel, no response at wot. Runs very rough at idle & driving. Today it tried to stall. Wipers messed up, cd player coming off & on & tried running warm.

The first thing u would look at us the cps but mostly because it's fresh on my mind. There are several different theories for why people have this problem but the most common are the cps, computer, fuel filter or pump. If you've changed all of those in afraid im fresh out of solutions
