m42 automatic radiator in m20?

I have a line on a new m42 radiator but it's from am auto. When I have changed radiators in the past on different cars and trucks, they gace had universal radiators. It's simple, if you have an automatic, the radiator has the holes for the cooler lines.

My question, can I run the auto m42 rad in my m20 by simply just leaving the cooler holes open?
