    Was that a precision straight edge? You might get away with as much as a 0.001-0.002" warp with an MLS gasket, but if you aren't using a precision straight edge there could be more error in the straight edge than that. A precision straightedge will be flat to 0.0001" or better.
    Yeah, I agree with all that and in that picture, the VC WAS leaking, but I've replaced the gasket and now it's leak free. I just didn't feel like taking another picture.

    I used a precision straight edge. There was no warpage, at least not in the area that it seems to be seeping from.

      Well, clean the engine and prove that the leak is from the head gasket.

      When you last replaced the gasket did you also replace the four rubber bungs? Each time the gasket is replaced those need to be replaced also.
      The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
